proboscis monkey
The word proboscis means nose. This is why they are called the Proboscis Monkey. They are nearly 3 feet tall which makes then one of Asias largest monkeys. Their pot belly stomach digests the unripe fruits they eat. Unripe fruits are their main diet. But they also eat leaves but prefer the new shoots. But some other adaptations they have are webbed feet to help them swim and can stand up in shallow water. Their nose is used to attract females to mate with, scare off predators and it can make alarm calls to warn the others that a predators near.
A group of these monkeys will have a dominate male, 2-7 females and their offspring.

They live in the island of Borneo in Indonesia. They live in swamps, forests and rainforests.
Unfortunately their habitat is being destroyed for Palm Oil plantations & also for timber. The local people consider this monkey as a delicacy.
But fortunately they are protected from being captured and hunted.
Their is also a lot you can do
