description, diet, adaptations, hunting training & hunting
Monkey Eating Eagles are one of the largest and most powerful eagles on the planet and they can pluck their prey out of a tree hollow or tree branch. They can weight up to 7 kilos and their wingspan is 2 meters.
Philippine Eagles have specially adapted wings so they can dart through the trees. They aren't as big as the wings of eagles that would live in open areas. But its wings are broader and rounder and that makes it easier to dart throughout the forest.
Young Philippine Eagles do something I call Hunting Training. They will attack non-living things and hang upside down. They do this to practice hunting and balance.
They aren't called the Monkey eating Eagle for nothing. Its diet consists of Monkeys, Flying lemurs, Deer, Pigs, Large Bats, Snakes and occasionally dogs.
Unlike most Eagles the Philippine Eagle sometimes hunt together in a pair of two. One will perch themself on a branch to distract the prey and the other one will come in from behind to make the kill. Even through they have worked together, they will fight over food!

habitat
As its name suggests the Philippine Eagle lives in the Philippines and the Mindanao Islands tropical mountains rainforests.
lifespan
They live to 30-60 years.
threats
Philippines Eagles are classified as critically endangered and there is only 250 left. At my High School there is 900 students so that just shows how low their numbers are. They have no natural predators. Palm Oil is destroying their habitat and when all of its hunting territory is destroyed it has to move on and that makes it harder to find its food. When young get orphaned they will open on into the illegal pet trade as you can see above.
